About CaptSmokey6
During Kimberly’s pre-transition years, CaptSmokey6 was her longtime online username. She first began using it around the age of 13 or 14 in the early 2000s and continued using it until her social transition in 2017, when she came out as a transgender woman and adopted the username KimberlyMcBlaze.
The name originated from a fictional character known as Capt. Smokey VI, also called Captain Smokey the Sixth, Capt. Smokey, or simply CaptSmokey6. He was a bear pirate who was supposedly the brother of Smokey Bear—the well-known American mascot who promotes wildfire prevention.
While Smokey Bear taught people how to prevent wildfires, Capt. Smokey followed a very different path. He was a ruthless pirate captain who commanded a massive galleon and sailed the seas with his crew, searching for ships to pillage and plunder.
It was eventually revealed that Capt. Smokey was not related to Smokey Bear at all. He was merely an uncanny doppelgänger.
The Capt. Smokey character was permanently retired in 2017. This webpage now serves as an archive preserving the character, his history, and the username Kimberly used throughout much of her early online life.
